Why not ask your employees for their feedback? A good manager is always open to feedback. Gathering this from your employees before, during and after big changes are made that affect them, shows that you care and value their input. When that employee feedback is implemented, it shows that you listened, which in turn makes your employees feel respected. Doing this also helps the employee remain loyal to the company.
Only communicating with someone when there’s an issue isn’t very fun, right? It is important in the workplace to open all communication channels so that conversations can go both ways between the employee and manager. Maintaining an “open door” policy is a great way to ensure things are running smoothly between you and your employees.
Offering incentives to your employees could be a huge benefit to them. For example, rewarding your most productive employee every month or rewarding one of the specific teams for an accomplishment, creates a goal that everyone can strive for. It is important that you not let productivity or hard work go unnoticed, as acknowledgement is of value to your employees. Be creative. Have a pizza party. Have an office “happy hour”. Make sure that you remain available to the new employee as they step into the new position, giving them the tools they need to learn and perform the duties for which they were hired. Allow them to grow in the position with your guidance and leadership. However, be careful not to micromanage, rather instill in them a confidence to be successful in all they do, with the “open door” policy being an important element in this process.
Setting appropriate and attainable goals for your employees helps the employee prioritize his or her tasks, resulting in greater productivity. If your employee has meaningful and attainable goals and is able to achieve those goals in a timely fashion, rewards (or incentives) are appropriate.
